Inspiration and sharing ideas. |
I am a retired Science teacher living in Humboldt County in far northern, coastal California. I taught elementary and middle school for 34 years. I am currently a community activist promoting Math, Science and Engineering education and activities in the community. I served on the board of directors of the Redwood Discovery Museum in Eureka and build exhibits for the museum. I am also the founder and coordinator of the Humboldt Math Festival, a community celebration of math, that happens every spring in Eureka. Additionally I am one of the hosts, and science contest specialist on Homework Hotline on PBS Northcoast.

Integration of art, math and engineering has always been part of my teaching. In about 2010 I had the pleasure of starting an Engineering Program at Zane Middle School for sixth grade students... with virtually no budget. We took on the challenge by developing hands-on projects as a class.
My students were wonderful at taking on a simple projects and often taking them far beyond what I imagined. This website shares some of those projects and others that I have developed or borrowed from other teachers or resources. Whenever possible, I will try to credit those who inspired a project or sources and resources that may help you make the projects even better. My dream is to make this website a place where people can share their ideas, projects, suggestions and successes. Email: [email protected] |
